Projections and layering:

I hooked up my laptop to a projector so that I had free range of all my photos to choose from such as different landscape scenes that I have taken I projected onto a plain white background. I selected a few landscape scenes as well as images of previous silhouette projections. When looking at the projections by themselves the images were sharp and clear and there was little to no pixilation, they were crisp images and pleasing to look at, however, they weren't overly interesting a I wanted to try to push them further. I decided to work a little bit more with layers and used the light projector from before to project new wire flower silhouettes over the top to create a more interesting image. I experimented with a variety of different scenes and compositions and thought carefully about where to place the shadows and silhouettes on the image. When looking at the final product I believe that placing the shadows in a natural setting completely changed the atmosphere that they have, they go from something organic and seemingly delicate to something more sinister and eerie. The dark tones of the shadows are in contrast to the lighter background and this causes them to stand out and draw attention, I really liked the result of laying the shadows over the top of my projection and I believe that I have created quite a powerful final image, when I look at these images I am inspired by imagery of glitches and parallel realities, as if there is a tear in our universe allowing for these shadow creatures to invade, I further show this in a video where I shake the projector to create a glitching effect. To finish, I edited the images that I had to make the colours within slightly more saturated which I think has improved the final image as there is a stronger tone to the colours and it helps the image to stand out more and have more depth. I believe that this outcome was successful and I would like to push it further by perhaps projecting onto something different such as a person.
