constructing my final piece for the castle:

I used fishing wire to tie each of my ceramic pieces together, to make sure that they were secure by tying the wire in a knot three times and pulling the ends tight with pliers. As an extra security measure once I was finished tying the knots I then put a small amount of super glue on each knot to make sure that they don't come undone when I cut the loose ends of the wire off. While finishing my piece I came across a few problems such as some of the holes in the ceramic pieces had been blocked with clay while firing them and part of the noose had cracked, to fix this I used a paper clip to poke out the blocked clay and superglue to re secure the crack in the noose. Once I had finished the piece, I took multiple photos and videos from different angles and with my work suspended in the air to showcase how I would want it to be displayed.

When looking at my finished piece I love the shape of the overall piece, I think that the smaller pieces that are shapes like leaves and flowers add a delicateness to the work that contrasts with the harsh and heavy, darker connotations of the noose. I also really enjoy the mixture and contrast of the glazed pieces next to the matt non glazed ones, again I believe that this adds to the atmosphere and feeling of a harsh and rough piece that's raw and upfront with smaller, prettier pieces that seem as if they are perfect but underneath the glaze they are just a rough and bare as the others.

I made sure to make each length of wire different and spaced the ceramic pieces out randomly to create a more interesting and chaotic composition for the viewer.

I really love the movements that this piece makes while it is spinning. I think that the work moves and flows in a graceful way and although my inspiration for this piece was a baby mobile when looking at my finished piece I am reminded of a jelly fish floating slowly though the ocean. I think that sounds of the ceramics hitting each other adds to this graceful imagery. The small clinking sounds are delicate and remind me of fairies flying around, and I believe that this helps to create an immersive experience for the viewer.
