Photography of pathways:

To represent and show my own personal recovery I decided to take photographs of the pathways that I was walking. These are all desire paths, which means that they have been created from years of people choosing to walk this specific way, it was important to me that I captured these images as I was not able to walk them the last time I was here and this time I was able to choose to and carry through with my choice because of my recovery.

When looking at these images I believe that these paths look enticing and inviting, it feels as if the the viewer has stepped into a story book and is about to go on an adventure. In terms of composition I think that all of these images have a nice proportion of land and sky and there is a good sense of depth within the image, almost as if the viewer could step right into it. There is something lonely about these images and I believe that it is because of the lack of human subjects within the photographs, and I believe that the mixed and beige tones of the dirt path and dead grass amplify this atmosphere. However, I think that this conveys perfectly how isolating recovering from an illness can sometimes feel. although you may be surround by a support system no one can truly understand exactly how you feel because they themselves are not experiencing it with you. I believe that this highlights and conveys the importance and need for resilience and self believe that you will get through this.
