Since the beginning of this project I have broken up my days to split my work load:

Monday - Experimentation and Critical studies 

Tuesday - Critical studies 

Wednesday - Studio practice 

Thursday studio practice 

Sunday - Blogging or research trips 

This is the routine that I have tried to keep to over this project, most of the time I was able to do this but there have periods where I have felt stuck or uninspired causing me to deviate form this plan and fall slightly behind. During this last moth of my project I have spent less time on critical studies and used Tuesdays for my studio practice and catching up on my blog which has been helpful and allowed me to get back on track. I have also been able to start using Friday to use some of the workshops and facilities at College to get my final piece done.

For September and October I focused mainly on photography and finding my inspiration and then in November and December I decided to start some more physical experimentation such as drawing and painting, as well as using card board to make scenes and a diorama. I used January to develop my final piece using mount board, acetate and finally creating some cyanotypes.

 FMP evaluation: This FMP lasted 16 weeks and concludes the 2nd year of my Fine Arts Foundation Degree. To begin my project I started off with some photography of walks and hikes that I did while on holiday. The theme of this project was about recovery, this was a personal theme as last year I had come down very suddenly with an illness and have spend months recovering from it. I wanted this project to explore the themes of sickness, recovery, how these thing change and affect your every day life and the resilience and perseverance needed to get better.  Through a series of images I was able to document walks, hikes and meals that I would not have been able to do or eat a month before and I found this process empowering and liberating. Once I had the foundations I was able to start developing my project.  Perfecting the digital collage: Moving forward with my digital collage I decided create a word document of positive affirmations and overlay them with photographs. In contrast to the previous digital collages the images I used didn't have any human subjects in them and I used the lasso tool to cut out sections of the images.  The first photo I used was the image of my families dinner played out on the table, I cut around pieces of food and condiment bottles using a combination of the lasso tool and the magnetic lasso tool to create multiple silhouettes, I then copied over multiples of the old document and adjusted them to size. I did the same for the other two images and tried to make sure that the sections I was cutting out were following some of the natural lines present in the image so that they didn't look too random and followed some kind of pattern.  I really love the contrast between these images and my first digital collages, I think that the use of positive affi...

 Exhibition layout: I tried out a few different options when it came to putting up my work on the board, and initially I thought about overlaying my images to create a massive collage of them. Unfortunately, when looking at the result I found that it was messy and the images seemed to get lost in each other and it didn't have the impact that I wanted. I then thought about going in the complete opposite direction, I put my images into thin, sleek black frames and set them out in an orderly composition. I really liked the effect of this, the work seemed neat and the black frames allowed each piece to feel elevated and for it to really stand out against the white background.
