 Measuring and cutting dowl


I needed something to use to hang up my wall hangings and also weight the bottom of them dowel. I decided to buy some down to do this. I had to get two different sizes to do this due to one of the loops being smaller that all of the others. I took my wall hangings with me to B&Q so that I could test them while I was there and reduce that chance of me choosing the wrong size. 

I then measured out the length that I wanted, I decided to leave about 4 inches of dowel overhanging on either side of the fabric and this would give me enough space to add and attachment to hang each piece. I used a hand saw to cut each piece of dowel down to size which was a fairly simple process, and I put the dowel in each loop to test that they fit properly which the did.

 Perfecting the digital collage: Moving forward with my digital collage I decided create a word document of positive affirmations and overlay them with photographs. In contrast to the previous digital collages the images I used didn't have any human subjects in them and I used the lasso tool to cut out sections of the images.  The first photo I used was the image of my families dinner played out on the table, I cut around pieces of food and condiment bottles using a combination of the lasso tool and the magnetic lasso tool to create multiple silhouettes, I then copied over multiples of the old document and adjusted them to size. I did the same for the other two images and tried to make sure that the sections I was cutting out were following some of the natural lines present in the image so that they didn't look too random and followed some kind of pattern.  I really love the contrast between these images and my first digital collages, I think that the use of positive affi...

  FMP Project Proposal: Exploring the subconscious: For this project I wanted to explore themes of the subconscious and dreams, as well as lucid dreaming. I believe that dreams are an important part of everyones lives, including mine. I wanted to move away slightly from my previous project and the themes of the natural word while still incorporating the surreal elements that were being seen in my final cyanotypes. To do this I have decided to explore the subconscious, the subconscious influences our lives and actions in ways that we often do not realise or understand. I wish to delve into the mind, dreams and even showcase the act of taking control and becoming aware, in ways such as lucid dreaming.
