Analysis of their work:
When looking at Andy Warhols soup can piece I can instantly see the use of repetition along with the bright red which provides a stark contrast to the white half of the soup can and background. When looking at each individual soup can I can see that it has been placed directly in the middle of the canvas with the top and bottom parts touching the edge of the canvas and the left and right sides having an equal amount of space from the sides of the canvas, this shows that he has carefully considered the composition of this piece. I believe that this piece is a commentary on consumerism and mass production, which is shown through repetition, it tells a story about how people will buy without thinking and I enjoy this piece because it begins to make you question the actions of others and society.
when looking at Yves Kleins work the use of his iconic shade of blue is the first think that draws my eye, its bold, bright and is the focal point of the piece and provides contrast to the white background of the canvas. this piece of work consists of two female bodies that have been dragged across a canvas resulting two large swooping curves in the centre of the canvas, when looking at the shape of the marks that have been made it reminded me of sea creature such as dolphins, sharks and mermaids as the marks made by the women legs have a striking likeness to tail fins, this paired with the blue colour scheme made the piece feel almost like a fairy tale and invokes a whimsical atmosphere. I like this piece as I believe that this shade of blue is incredibly pleasing to the eye and having two forms causes the piece to feel balanced.
