Glazing:
I decided to experiment with paint on glazes as well as dip glazes, I used a combination of red, blue, purple, wisteria, white and honey. I decided to paint designs such as flowers and strawberry's as I wanted to have a result that was cute and fresh, and I believe that I have achieved this. However, when looking at the final results I can see that I have made some mistakes such as finger prints in the glaze and smudges of glaze where it's not supposed to be which I think unfortunately brings down the quality of what I have made and causes it to feel childish and amateur. I believe that my most successful glazing attempts is the strawberry as they as clean and neat, I think that this design invokes a cute and bubbly atmosphere and allows the piece to feel friendly and inviting. the red and white glazes compliment each other and don't clash which I think adds sweet nature of the piece. My other attempts were less successful as I was struggling to paint finer details due to the brush being larger than I would have liked, these attempts are not as clean and seem far more childish than my first as if a school child has brought home their class project to show their mum, I was more carless with the glaze resulting in smudges and drips that I didn't intend to be there and I believe that when looking at these pieces they invoke a child like and messy feeling. I think that my attempt at dip glazing was the least successful out of all my attempts as I was struggling to submerge the entire slip cast in the glaze resulting overly think glaze that didn't seem to dry quickly at all, and when I went to move it I found that the glaze was still when and my finger prints had gotten everywhere, which causes the piece to look messy and unprofessional. However, I believe that the honey colour I chose was very pleasing to the eye, it was warm and inviting and I think that even with that fingerprints it complimented the shapes and curves of my slip cast.
