 First collage: To begin developing my ideas, taking my project forward from the documentation of of found litter I began creating a collage made from old environmental magazines such as bbc gardening and bbc autumn watch. I liked the idea of a collage as I could layer things continuously on top of each other to be reminiscent of things like piles of litter and land fills. I decided to reuse old ones that were going to be thrown away instead of buying new one so that the entirety of my project including materials is more eco friendly. I also decided to include things like old receipts within my collage as a way to represent the over consumption of society.  As a base for the collage I started with more plain, basic images of flowers, leaves and landscapes and I then began to layer on images of animals and important headlines that I found in the magazine.  Modernism: Comparing artists from different time periods The first piece of work that I will be analysing is called 'Rise of the Dovey' by John Piper, made in 1943. John Piper was and English painter, print maker and his work often focused on the British landscape. Piper was inspired by turners portrayal of Yorkshires Weathercote cave and began visiting similar locations which lead to his piece 'rise of the Dovey'.  'Rise of the Dovey' is oil on canvas board and when looking at this painting the first thing that I notice is the incredible portrayal and representation of light within this work. I believe that this immediately draws in focus and helps to create a sense of scale throughout the piece, the lighter areas allow the cliff face to stand out and it becomes this looming form that dominates the area. Professional practice: history of Tatooing  

 Artist research: Environmental artists Terry Evans: Terry Evans is a photographer that grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. A lot of her work centres around environmental activism, and her photography mostly involves prairies since 1978. Evans piece 'The South Pasture' February to May 2022 is a wonderful pixelated photomontage of a mixture of different images used in a way to create a landscape. The colours are a variety of beige and brown with only a splash of green in the far distance which I think creates a desolate atmosphere to the overall work. I believe that the close up shots of the dead grass and dirt are powerful as they highlight the state of the earth, barren and dry, almost as if it is devoid of life. However, I think that there is still beauty in it, the delicate patterns and faded colours of the leaves and grass paired with add a feeling of hope that life could flourish there once again.  Photography documentation: To begin my first project of the year I started by documenting different types of litter and waste that has been left around the area that I live in using photography. The images have been taken using either my iPhone or a Canon camera, and each image is clear and has the piece litter centred in the middle of the frame as the focal point and subject. I wanted to add a performance element to the start of this project and really involve myself as a human being , so I walked the same route every day and managed to find something new each time. By physically walking and documenting I wanted to show that what is happening to the environment is real and can be experienced by anyone by simply going on a walk. I believe that this has a greater impact that if I was to just create a painting of litter as with my photos I am showing proof.  To take this further as my project develops I was thinking about possibly using my images along side other materials to created a

 Counter culture, inspiration and research: For our first project, 'Counter culture' I wanted to focus on environmental activism and climate change as this is something that I feel strongly about and I want to create a piece that counters and combats the fact that climate change and disregard for the planet that we live on has been normalised, and almost reached a point of no return.  When looking into different sub cultures and movements that include counter culture I was drawn to Dadaism which was created because of a negative reaction to World War One. when looking more into this movement I believe that Dada is one of the best examples of counter culture that there is as it describes itself as not only anti establishment and anti war but also anti art. I was really inspired by the silly and nonsensical aspects of this art form and would like to involve this within my own work.  One of my initial ideas was to create parody propaganda posters using collage, I would mimic the o
